Shoshana comes from the verdant and winsome land of NY’s Hudson Valley and moved to Philadelphia in 2013 to get her Masters in Public Health from Drexel University. Since arriving in the city, she has grown her life, community, and interests in Philadelphia and plans on being a lifelong resident.
Shoshana works at the Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission (DVRPC) as a Public Participation Planner. What does that even mean, you ask? Well, her work at the regional urban planning agency centers around equity, environmental justice, civil rights, public participation, and community engagement strategies for DVRPC’s planning projects with a focus on systems thinking, policy, and vulnerable populations. So think Leslie Knope meets Jane Jacobs.
You can find her on the internet at @sh_akins on Twitter, flying around the city on her neon green bike (always wear a helmet!), or trying out every bar in search of the perfect Manhattan for under $12.
