About
YIP's Social committee strives to build on the energy and interests of the organization and its members to create unique social events. These events are meant not only to give members an opportunity to get to know other young Philadelphians in a fun atmosphere, but to introduce them to parts of the city and distinctively Philadelphia institutions they might not have discovered on their own.

Recent past events include:
"Presidential Address to Congress" Viewing on February 24th: We met at National Mechanics to watch President Obama outline challenges facing the nation and lay out the priorities for his administration on a large screen TV, while sharing a few beers.
Light Show and Tour and Holiday Party on December 16th. We took a trip back in time to learn about and explore the Wanamaker Building and view the light show. Afterwards, we enjoyed food, drinks, and eachother's company at Sole Food.
North Broad Street Tour on October 25th. We got an insider's look of Girard College's Founder's Hall, Hammerstein's 4,200 seat opera house, and then looked at over 100,000 species at Wagner's Free Institute of Science.
Live Arts Fringe Festival: Bodies in Urban Spaces on September 5th. We kicked off our Arts and Culture series with live performances from around the world, including a traveling, outdoor dance event that used newsstands, fire escapes, and offices to create a trail of live human sculpture.
Schuylkill River Kayaking on July 22nd co-hosted by the Young Friends of the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society and Young Involved Philadelphia. We learned about Schuylkill Banks development along the river and enjoyed the flora and fauna while gliding through the waters. Read an article about the event here!
