YIP's Board
Young Involved Philadelphia is guided by an eleven-member board that makes strategic decisions about the direction of the organization and allocation of resources. Members of the board are chosen from among the most active YIP members and serve two-year terms.
Aaron Couch
Aaron Couch is a Philly native and an organizer with Philadelphia Independent Media where he writes about issues of social justice in the city. His writing has also appeared locally in the Weekly Press, University City Review, and The Philadelphia Inquirer, and he is the poetry editor at Xconnect magazine. He works in the Outreach section at Project HOME and is passionate about homeless issues, development, local politics, the environment, and all things Philadelphia.

Matt Goldfine grew up along the R5 in
Kate Houstoun
Kate Houstoun attended the William Penn Charter School and graduated from the University of Delaware with a degree in English and Ethnic & Cultural Studies. She returned to Philadelphia and lives in Passyunk Square in South Philadelphia. After college, she worked for American Friends Service Committee on a community project in rural Mexico. Currently, Kate works in community development at Ready, Willing & Able, a residential work-training program for homeless men. She sits on various committees related to homelessness, employment, and addiction. She is particularly proud of her work with "Vote for Homes!" a coalition to educate and mobilize low-income and homeless voters in Philadelphia. Kate is YIP's Vice Chair and chair of the Advocacy Committee.
Jesse Langman
Jesse Langman, the son of a veterinarian and an artist, was raised on a farm outside Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. He graduated from the Ithaca College communications program. In 1999, he founded Archival Resource Company, Inc., a consulting firm for library and information management. Jesse also serves on the Executive Committee of the Young Friends of the Philadelphia Art Museum.
Clio Mallin
Clio Alexandra Mallin is the Chair of Young Involved Philadelphia. She has been an active member since 2003, involved in all aspects of the organization, including strategic planning, events coordination, and website development. Clio was born and raised in Philadelphia. She is a summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the University of Pennsylvania in the History of Art. She has worked as Associate Editor of Commercial Realty Review magazine and on the major re-installation of the University of Pennsylvania Museum's Roman and Etruscan galleries. She is currently Communications Senior Associate at the John Templeton Foundation in West Conshohocken, PA. Clio lives on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway and is actively involved in cultural organizations in the city, including the America-Italy Society of Philadelphia, Philly Friends, and the International Visitor's Council. She is a member of I Vivaci, an Italian folk-dance group, and enjoys riding her bike along the Schuylkill River.
Claire Robertson-Kraft
Claire Robertson-Kraft is a native Texan but a Philadelphian at heart. She graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 2004 with a double major in urban studies and philosophy. After graduation, Claire worked with Teach for America in Houston for three years, first as a third grade teacher and then as a supervisor for corps members teaching in elementary and special education placements. Currently, she is working as the Associate Director of the Center for Greater Philadelphia on Operation Public Education, a comprehensive approach to national school reform, and pursuing her masters in education policy at Penn.
KC Roney
KC Roney grew up in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania and has lived around the world, including stints in China and South Africa. After graduating from Princeton, she attended law school here in Philadelphia at the University of Pennsylvania. It was during law school and a subsequent clerkship at the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania that KC really started to explore Philadelphia. KC became involved with YIP through the Civic Education Committee, where she first helped plan and then moderate a number of civic education forums. Now at the Morgan Lewis law firm in Center City, KC loves walking the city in search of the best local restaurants and shops as well as watching Philadelphia politics.
Marlon Satchell
Marlon Satchell grew up in Philadelphia and graduated from the Baldwin School. She graduated from Johns Hopkins University with a degree in the History of Science and Medicine, and from Drexel University with a Masters of Public Health. She currently lives in Wynnefield and works at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia where she conducts health care policy research. Marlon is the chair of the Civic Education Committee. Marlon is also a member of the Alumni Executive Board for the Baldwin School, and enjoys rock climbing and reading when she has free time.
